Alice gets to a fork in the road. Unsure, she comes face to face with the Cheshire Cat. She asks the Cat which way she ought to go. “Well, that depends on where you want to get to,” the Cat replies. “It doesn’t really matter,” says Alice. The Cat cocks his head to one side. “Then it doesn’t really matter which way you go…”Alice in Wonderland.
This is a lesson that we can take with us into our daily lives. Often, we get caught up in the minor details. Our decision-making ability becomes blocked because of our uncertainty. We are not sure which path to take.
“What diet should I follow? Paleo? Keto? Vegan? What training program should I follow? 5-3-1? Conjugate?”
We sometimes get to the point when we are so unsure that we simply turn around or we stay the same.
If we don’t know where we want to end up, there is no direction. The only thing that matters is that we make a decision. It doesn’t even matter what the decision is. Just pursue it. Tug on that thread, until you get to the end.
Thus, the lesson here is twofold:
- Have a clear vision of where you want to go to.
- If you don’t know where you are going, or don’t have a clear vision, just make a decision.
And whatever it is, commit to it. See where it takes you…
