You don’t always have to be pursuing stimulation.
You don’t always need to be busy.
You don’t always have to be social or talkative or outgoing.
People have this expectation or desire to always be doing stuff. To always have something to do or to say.
Sometimes you just need quiet.
And it’s ok to be quiet! Seeking stillness and quiet is stimulating for some. It doesn’t mean that you are being rude by wanting to be by yourself. Or that you are being lazy by doing nothing.
Sometimes I need the quiet to recharge. To generate energy.
So here is my challenge to you: Give yourself some quiet time this week.
Leave your phone at home and go for a walk. Leave Netflix off for a night and read a book. Sit in nature and just breathe. Build some awareness of what you need and not what is expected of you.
