When the Siren Sounds.

The siren indicates the end of the match, game or event. Everyone stops where they are, packs up their gear and heads home. In sport, there is a winner or a loser.

The siren means that one team will walk away victorious, and the other in defeat.

If we accept that the siren indicates the end, we are choosing to play a finite game. There is a beginning and an end. And in the end, we either win or lose.

But what if we viewed the siren as something else.

What if it is simply a point in time, a marker in the grand scheme of things.

It means we need to look at the bigger picture. We need to take a step back to get some perspective.

Obviously, we stop playing (in a football game for example), yet it is just a pause in the infinite game of life.

We continue to train, to hone our skills and to prepare ourselves for the next match. We continue in our pursuit of whatever goal we are seeking. We continue.

And when we hear that siren again, we get the opportunity to look back down the path to see how far we have come.

Just a thought.
