“Positive pressure” is a condition or set of conditions that you are willingly exposed to in order to facilitate a certain behaviour. This is my definition of it anyway.
So let’s break this down a bit…
You can introduce positive pressure into your life by creating conditions that will force you to act in a way that is aligned to where you want to go or who you want to be. The key elements of this are the willingness to enter these conditions and the actual behaviour that you want to produce.
An example of positive pressure is a competition. Assuming that you want to win, you have entered into a situation that is going to force you to act. You need to take action if you want to win. The competition needs to be designed in a way that will either elicit the behaviour (or results you want) by winning, or facilitate the desired behaviour in the process of playing.
By “gamifying” this process, you create a system of accountability and positive pressure.
This pressure creates urgency to take action in a positive direction.
If you need some positive pressure in your life right now, I’m more than willing to play.
